The Opportunity

Responsible for accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in compliance with internal guidelines, procedures and regulatory requirements- key contributor to specific financial statement categories.

The Role

  • Analyze financial results in detail- prepare reports to identify variances and investigate nature and reason of variance. Significant focus on:
    • Sales and gross margin analysis- review costs components and sales agreements, contact regional support staff to identify variances and propose correction when necessary.
    • Selling, general and administrative costs- review expenses against budget and forecast to identify reason.
  • Perform general accounting activities, including preparing month-end journal entries, assisting with the monthly financial statements, balance sheet account reconciliations and support for key accounts (inventory, fixed assets, accounts payable, accrued liabilities and other receivables), investigating any questionable balances and ensuring compliance with accounting policies.
  • Propose recommendations for process improvements- focus on efficiency as well as proposing new procedures and reports that will improve management decision making.
  • Provide support for audit requests.
  • Support management with ad-hoc financial analysis, including providing assistance to other departments and branches in reviewing and investigating financial results.

The Candidate

Education: University Degree in Accounting, Professional accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CA, CGA)

Work Experience: 3-4 years;

Knowledge: Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge; beginner to intermediate Microsoft Access knowledge, strong understanding of IFRS.
