Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Discipline Director, the Clinical Service Leader is responsible for overseeing the daily clinical service delivery and environmental/operational issues in a designated service area to ensure optimum patient care in a safe environment.

The incumbent provides guidance to SLPs in a specific area through clinical leadership, mentoring, supervision, education, evaluation, and research.

The incumbent contributes to the delivery of quality SLP services by examining, developing, refining and evaluating the body of knowledge and clinical practices and by assisting the Director in program planning and development.

In addition, the incumbent assists in performance appraisals and recruitment, coordinating clinical work schedules, caseloads and rotations. The incumbent is expected to maintain a partial clinical caseload including SLP assessment, intervention, program planning, discharge planning and follow up.

Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant SLP experience in a hospital setting.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited, recognized University is required.

SPECIAL TRAINING:

  • Completion of, and ongoing participation in, relevant courses, workshops, etc., to address continuing education requirements; supervision in Speech Language Pathology (SLP) and specialization required for designated clinical area.
  • Training in human resource and fiscal management preferred.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Must be registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Manitoba (CASLPM). Membership in other professional organizations is encouraged; for example, Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC) and the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.

  • Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
