Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Director, Manitoba Tumour Bank, the Research Project Coordinator will work closely with the team responsible for the planning and execution of the Manitoba Tumour Bank’s research goals and objectives. The incumbent will be responsible for the daily coordination of tasks, research meetings, development, implementation and follow-up of study protocol, the management of routine project paperwork and filing systems to ensure the organization and security of project files, research grants and study publications. This includes assisting with the development and wet-lab testing of standard operating procedures for protocols that align with approved permissions, assisting in the reporting and presentation of results, and managing study deliverables. The role also includes on-going collaboration with internal and external/local and national project stakeholders.
The Research Project Coordinator may be given ad hoc responsibilities as required to ensure the successful implementation of the Manitoba Tumour Bank’s research and operations goals. This includes providing operational redundancy and support for various staff/performed within the Manitoba Tumour Bank on a day-to-day basis
Qualifications:
Required:
Education
- Post secondary degree in science, medical health sciences or equivalent education and experience
Experience
- 1 year of experience in project implementation and management.
- Strong wet-lab, research study and experimentation background with at least two years of work experience in project coordination and bench-work research/experimentation
- 2 years of advanced level experience in Microsoft Office applications and Adobe applications
- Budget management experience
An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

- Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong teamwork and cooperation skills.
- Quantitative and qualitative analytic skills
- Familiarity with the research approval process.
- Familiarity with administrative and clinical databases is considered an asset.
- Familiar with study design and analysis is considered an asset
- Ability to work independently and able to develop, follow and/or trouble-shoot detailed protocols with minimal supervision.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Must be able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings at multiple sites throughout the organization, and ability to lift and carry items

- Must have satisfactory employment record.
- Must be legally able to work in Canada.
- Ability to speak French is considered an asset.
