100% TERM Feb 3/25-June 27/25 Media Literacy Special Project Teacher This is a full-time, term position. The Media Literacy Special Project Teacher works collaboratively with Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning and external partners to develop a novel, multimedia resource that supports classroom teachers in media literacy education. Reporting to and under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Deeper Learning and Rigour, they are responsible for research and resource development.Start Date: February 3, 2025The Winnipeg School Division is a partner in creation of a new provincial media literacy resource for Manitoba teachers. The project includes development of web- and print-based educational materials for use in Manitoba K 12 classrooms.Duties:· Collaborate with representatives from Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning and external partners in all areas of the project· Engage in research, design, and data analysis· Craft materials in line with the Manitoba Framework for Learning· Contribute to the creation of a virtual space where teachers may learn with their students about media literacy· Equip teachers and learners with necessary multiliteracies to understand and navigate the media landscape· Demonstrate a commitment and understanding Indigenous world views and perspectives within media production and transmission· Use evidence-based educational practices, guiding texts and research to inform project designQualifications:· Manitoba Teachers Certificate· Minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience· Significant experience as a teacher supporting children with diverse needs focusing on rigour, relevance and relationship at the centre of all planning for inclusion and deeper learning· Knowledge of Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learnings frameworks· Demonstrated proficiency in teaching media literacy disciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary ways· Commitment to collaboration and creative problem solving· Knowledge of a range of approaches to learning design and assessment practices· Media creation, journalism, and/or publication experience is an asset· Demonstrated understanding of the importance, the role, and the responsibilities of media creation and use· Dedication to anti-racism, equity, and diversity· Proven commitment to Truth and Reconciliation Employment is subject to a clear Child Abuse Registry check and Police Information Check Winnipeg School Division has an Employment Equity policy which strives for the removal of barriers to the hiring, advancement, full inclusion, and fair representation of women, Indigenous peoples, 2SLGBTQQIA+ community, persons living with a disability and racialized people at all levels within the organization.
