CLASS IV HEAD SECRETARY CHILDREN OF THE EARTH MGEU 100% FTE Permanent This is a full-time, 10-month, permanent position in a High School (Grade 9-12). Under the direction of the Principal, the incumbent is responsible for providing secretarial assistance to the Administrator, performing bookkeeping/accounting functions for school accounts and funds, maintaining student records, and providing clerical service within the school.The successful incumbent requires excellent organizational and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with a culturally diverse community; and the ability to deal tactfully with all levels of personnel, students, and the general public. The incumbent also requires the ability to meet constant deadlines with multiple interruptions, and to adapt with flexibility in job duties. A knowledge of School Division policies and procedures an asset. Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Provides secretarial support to the administrator, which includes handling of confidential material Performs all accounting and bookkeeping functions, according to Division policies and procedures Completes reports such as Report of Staff Members, EA timesheets, etc. and compiles appropriate paperwork Maintains employee absence reporting system and generates applicable reports Greets and screens visitors and appointments Types, formats, and proofreads a variety of material including: correspondence, minutes, agendas, policies, procedures, etc. from material provided by the school administrator Organizes and prioritizes independently, the administrative activities for the school administrator and school office, and ensures that all work is completed within established timeframes Takes initiative to handle matters and solve administrative problems not requiring the direct personal attention of the school administrator Contacts parents, volunteers, community members, and organizations when necessary and appropriateDedication to anti-racism, equity, and diversityProven commitment to Truth and ReconciliationProven ability to build collaborated cultures founded on integrity and collective purpose Qualifications: Completion of secondary education, 3 years of office experience and relevant coursework/training Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel at an intermediate levelAccurate keyboarding of at least 40 words per minuteDemonstrated bookkeeping/accounting knowledgeDemonstrated experience with division softwareAbility to prioritize a large workload and work independentlyAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlineDemonstrated problem solving skillsAbility to maintain a high level of confidentiality How to apply: Click the button "Apply Online" and log into your account.
