ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS INTEGRATION OF RELIGIOUS EDUCATION IN CATHOLIC SCHOOLS, PART 2
COURSE INSTRUCTOR
The York Catholic District School Board has been accredited by the Ontario College of Teachers to deliver Additional Qualification (AQ), Schedule C and D, courses. At YCDSB, our courses are offered by certified and qualified Instructors who have a deep understanding and appreciation of andragogy as well as course material. Our focus is on supporting the AQ candidates through an enriching professional experience while meeting the requirements set out through the Ontario College of Teachers found in the Foundation of Professional Practice.
We are currently seeking dynamic YCDSB educators to deliver the AQ Religious Education in Catholic Schools, Part 2 course, through an online program (synchronous and asynchronous classes) in multiple sessions each year (Fall, Spring, Summer), beginning Fall 2024. This is a three year term reporting to the Associate Director, Strategic Leadership and the Additional Qualifications Program Officer. AQ Course Instructor Positions:
Religious Education in Catholic Schools, Part 2*
*Placement is subject to the approval of the Catholic Archdiocese of Toronto and the morality strand of these courses must be taught by an Instructor with a Master’s Degree in Theology, Divinity, or Religious Education
The Successful Candidate will:
Be committed to the York Catholic District School Board's Mission, Vision, and Values
Be committed to the Ontario College of Teachers and York Catholic District School Board’s directives in AQ course development and course resources
Foster a learning community of adult educators through leadership and collaboration with colleagues
Incorporate Equity, Inclusivity, and Culturally Responsive Pedagogy as a focus and priority into AQ curriculum development and course resources
Display expertise related to subject content and exemplary teaching and assessment strategies for adult learners
Embody strong interpersonal, collaborative, communication, organizational, and technology skills to enhance the AQ curriculum delivery
Required Qualifications/Experience:
Certificate of Qualification and Registration in Good Standing with the Ontario College of Teachers
Minimum of five (5) years successful relevant teaching experience and specialization in the area of the desired AQ course(s)
Experience in faith development and leadership for students and adults
Religious Education in Catholic Schools, Specialist (or equivalent)
Positive recommendation from an appropriate Supervisory Officer or Principal(s), as applicable
Desired Qualifications/Experience:
Master’s Degree in Theology, Divinity, or Religious Education
Excellent understanding of instructional and assessment strategies for adult learners (andragogy)
Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
Proven ability to work collaboratively with staff at all levels
Experience in facilitating professional learning workshops and collaborative inquiries
Excellent organization, time management and resource management skills
Experience using Google Suite (Google Classroom and Google Meet) to support AQ curriculum pedagogy
Preference will be given to current YCDSB employees
