YOTBU LTO - Itinerant Reading Intervention Teacher (K-3)

Effective: February 17, 2025- Open ended

FTE Breakdown:

Feb. 17/25 - Mar. 23/25 - 70%

Mar. 24/25 - Apr. 20/25 - 60%

Apr. 21/25 - June 1/25- 50%

June 2/25 - June 27/25 - 40%



The Successful Candidate will:

  • Support reading improvement efforts in Kindergarten to Grade 3 classrooms at assigned schools through regularly planned visits
  • Work directly with students, one-on-one or in small groups, who require additional support in reading
  • Co-plan and co-teach with classroom teachers around the consistent and intentional implementation of scientific, evidence-based literacy instruction
  • Develop reading units and lessons in collaboration with classroom teachers
  • Support the implementation of early reading screening tools to ensure students with reading difficulties are identified early and supported in the classroom
  • Model effective instructional practices and conference with teachers to improve student learning and achievement in reading
  • Co-reflect with colleagues to debrief the learning, identify student needs, monitor progress towards improvement targets, and determine instructional next steps
  • Support classroom teachers to apply technology-enhanced learning opportunities that account for the global competencies
  • Capture and document student learning within various professional learning models
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Superintendent of Education: Curriculum & Assessment

Required Qualifications/Experience:

  • Primary qualifications

Desired Qualifications/Experience:

  • Additional qualifications related to reading
  • Training in providing direct Tier 2 and Tier 3 reading interventions
  • Awareness and experience of assessments that inform instruction based on intensity, duration and frequency of skill
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with staff at all levels
  • Experience using technology to support curriculum pedagogy
  • Experience in facilitating professional learning workshops and collaborative inquiries
  • Successful implementation of school or board technology projects
