JV Clark School is a happy school with strong comradery amongst staff and strong connection to the local community of 500 people. We have a tight-knit and energetic staff who embrace new ideas and unique opportunities. The school principal strongly values continued learning and encourages and supports staff participation in choice Professional Development.

Mayo is situated alongside the confluences of the Mayo and Stewart Rivers. Aside from the 500 or so humans that reside here, there are also frequent sightings of bears, deer, and moose. Beavers are at work in the Mayo River chopping down tress for their lodges and woodpeckers are often heard tapping away on distant trees. At night, walkers will hear the distant hooting of owls as well. The air is fresh and Nature is alive and well in Mayo and the surrounding environs.

The Village of Mayo and the are active participants in the community and there is no shortage of activities happening on a weekly basis including painting classes, yoga classes, daily exercise classes, free ice skating in winter, and plenty of festivals occurring throughout the year. For those with dogs, Mayo is a very dog-friendly location with many landlords accepting tenants with well-behaved dogs. Mayo is a great place to live and work. It is quiet, peaceful, and tranquil place and only a 4-hour drive for a weekend getaway to Whitehorse or 2 hours to the historical delight that is Dawson City
