The candidate will play a key role supporting in various activities to further position the airline as a leader in Sustainable Procurement. The successful candidate will apply a passion for and knowledge of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles into shaping procurement policies and process, to support various activities to advance Air Canada’s Sustainable Procurement strategy, and to build strong relationships with multiple key stakeholders externally and internally (branches, suppliers, industry associations, and others).

Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and implementation of the Sustainable Procurement Strategy
    • Assist in the development and implementation of the Sustainable Procurement Strategy, including through market research, benchmarks and training
    • Support initiatives that affect various phases of the procurement process, including market research, Request for Proposals (RFPs) and supplier relationship management
    • Support cross-functional initiatives, including Supplier Diversity Program and environmental projects
  • Assist in ESG reporting
    • Maintain accurate and timely ESG data for reporting and compliance purposes, including requirements of the Canada Modern Slavery Act
    • Assist in tracking sustainable procurement KPIs for reporting requirements
  • Support the supplier risk process
    • Conduct risk assessments on suppliers prior to entering into a contract
    • Support on-going monitoring of contracted suppliers and provide support to Strategic Procurement Managers to mitigate any risk identified as part of the risk process
    • Support the implementation of a risk management framework including ESG factors
  • Collaborate on supplier engagement
    • Provide guidance and support to internal teams and suppliers to implement sustainable procurement initiatives, including participating in QBRs with suppliers
  • Contribute to and lead continuous improvement projects and initiatives within the Centre of Excellence team

Qualifications

In addition to a university degree in a relevant field of study (Business Administration, Sustainability, Supply Chain Management, or a related field) and a minimum 2 years of related work experience, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of procurement and supply chain processes
  • Knowledge of sustainability reporting standards and applicable laws and regulations
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including preparation of reports, training material and visual presentations
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and effective research capabilities
  • Strong time and project management capabilities with the ability to work with changing priorities and deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and familiarity with procurement software tools, including SAP Ariba
  • Proficiency with data visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau) is considered an asset
