This Administrative Support III position, under the supervision and guidance of the NWCHC & Bow Corridor Public Health Area & Care Manager exists to perform a variety of general reception, administrative support and office duties to support the Canmore Public Health Unit. This employee must be able to communicate effectively with clients, public, health care staff and other external providers. The incumbent is responsible for processing high volumes of public, client and staff inquiries, scheduling client appointments, date entry in the Connect Care, as well as other administrative support duties primarily supporting the Public Health Program. In accordance with Health Information Act (HIA), Freedom of Information and Privacy (FOIP) and other privacy legislation in effect the incumbent shall comply at all times with APL / AHS’s Information Privacy and Information Security policies.

As an Administrative Support III, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in related discipline. Computer courses in MS Window, Word Excel and Data Entry required. Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision. Ability to communicate effectively with the public and staff both in person and on the telephone with diverse clients. Ability to deal with difficult client situations as they arise. Ability to work in a high paced, busy work environment, must focus and pay attention to detail in the midst of interruptions, frequent crying, and noisy work environment. Physically able to perform all duties as listed in the Administrative Support III job description / Hazard Inventory Assessment Control Worksheet (HIAC), ie extended periods of sitting are required, standing, walking, lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying supplies are required including repetitive motions keyboarding and telephone handling.

Recent Public Health experience within past 2 years. Experience working with Connect care applications. Experience with reception skills in a clinic setting preferred. Unit Clerk training, post-secondary training in Medical Office Administration or comparable course preferred.
