Description
Reporting to the Manager, the Administrative Support III is responsible for performing a range of clerical duties to support the operations of the various diagnostic areas. This position plays a key role in helping to foster the team environment by facilitating communication between nursing, other departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information and providing a variety of clerical support duties. The role of the Administrative Support III includes duties such as assisting with patient bookings, flow, general support duties within the department including reception, photocopying, faxing, assisting with image archiving, answering the telephone, address patient inquires and relaying messages; completes documentation and may contact other departments to communicate urgency of ordered diagnostic tests. Accountable for the accurate and timely transcription of physician orders. Contact and advise patients and other care teams of upcoming appointment dates/times and any preparation necessary.
As an Administrative Support III, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Medical Office Assistant, Medical Terminology or equivalent education. Clerical experience in a fast-paced acute care healthcare environment. Prior experience and strong knowledge of Diagnostic Imaging. Working knowledge of patient information systems and must be proficient in keyboarding, Word and Excel. Previous client facing experience with proven ability to multitask and communicate effectively. This position also requires physical stamina and dexterity to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time, assist with lifting and moving patient supplies, and reaching and extending frequently throughout the shift.
Minimum 1-year diagnostic imaging experience in an acute care setting. Working knowledge of PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System). Experience working with legacy RIS and Connect Care systems.
