Under the direction of the Health Information Management, Registration, Switchboard and Patient Information Supervisor the Administrative Support III is responsible for positive patient identification and registration services for the Emergency Department and Patient Registration areas in the RDRH. The position is also responsible for completing registration for Inpatient admissions, Ambulatory care, Outpatient, Diagnostic Imaging and pre-Registration activities in Connect Care. Position also includes a variety of other tasks such as taking payments for uninsured services and supplies. This fast-paced opportunity requires an incumbent who can exercise good judgment, initiative and able to work with a high degree of independence, confidentiality, and accuracy. Demonstrated ability to interact in a positive manner, excellent customer service skills, and enjoy working in a team environment. The successful applicant is to have availability to provide support and work shifts that provide 24/7 coverage for the facility.

As an Administrative Support III, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Medical office assistant or unit clerk program is required, although other relevant post-secondary education may be considered. Medical terminology certificate (or to complete within 3 months of hire date). Medical Terminology test will be administered (pass mark of 60%). Keyboarding skills of 40 wpm (corrected for errors), typing test will be administered. Must have a proven record of maintaining privacy with sensitive information and situations. Possess and demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication skills, ability to interact in a positive and respectful manner. Ability to work effectively in a team environment, prioritize and organize work in fast-paced surroundings.

Preference is given to qualified candidates with Health Information Management or Patient Registration department experience and a working knowledge of the Provincial Registration Standards.
