Description
Reporting to the Manager of the Eye Clinic, this position is one of a group of Administrative Support III staff that provide comprehensive support to the daily clinical activity. The incumbent will work collaboratively with a team of ophthalmologists, residents, ophthalmic personnel, nurses, medical students, and community offices to ensure that patients are seen in a timely and efficient manner. Duties include but will not be limited to: greeting patients, verifying patient information, scheduling of diagnostic testing and clinic appointments, ensuring patient charts are complete and filing. As an Administrative Support III, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Post-secondary certification in Medical Office Administration, Unit Clerk or equivalent required. Completion of Medical Terminology course is required and may be demonstrated through a written test. Exceptional communication and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment are essential. Connect Care experience/proficiency required. Ability to work independently and be self-directed. Strong interpersonal skills to work as part of a team. A strong commitment to providing Patient and Family Centered Care is essential for this position. Physical demands include long hours of sitting, standing, and walking within program. Previous experience in data entry and high level of keyboarding is required.
MOA/Unit Clerk experience in a high acuity setting is preferred. Relevant education & experience may be considered. Previous recent ophthalmology experience preferred. To ensure your skills and qualifications are considered, please attach a resume and cover letter with your application.
