Description
The newly developed Early Supported Discharge Unit (ESDU) at the Cross Cancer Institute (CCI) aims to provide patients with a safe transition between admission and discharge, thereby enhancing patient centered care by improving access to crucial hematology services. Your role as an Administrative Support III (ASIII) will be pivotal in ensuring resources are delivered efficiently, effectively, and compassionately. As an integral member of the health care team, your professional communication, your expertise in problem-solving, time management, conflict resolution and priority setting will be a great asset. As an ASIII, you will require advanced administrative skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within the department and hematology program. You will be engaged in duties such as greeting and directing patients and families, patient scheduling, coordinating patient transfers, answering telephone calls, monitoring and actioning work queues and ordering supplies. You will have the opportunity to take part in quality improvement initiatives and have a crucial role in the continued development of this evolving program. You will be the team’s support in scheduling, managing payroll and working with management to coordinate leaves and vacations. You will also be crucial in coordinating and supporting operational needs such as the scheduling of and documenting meetings, data entry and formatting of unit resources, and collating and presenting unit data and metrics. As an Administrative Support III, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Minimum of one-year clerical experience in an acute, time-sensitive healthcare environment. Proficiency in timekeeping, payroll and staff scheduling. Medical terminology or equivalent education. Strong organizational skills. Strong understanding of AUPE and UNA collective agreements. Proficient written and verbal, telephone and electronic communication skills to support safe patient/family care and interdisciplinary collaboration. Exhibit a high degree of professionalism with strong time management and prioritization skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to function effectively within a dynamic team environment. Able to work in a high traffic, fast-paced, acute interdisciplinary environment with frequent interruptions and distractions. Able to lift, push, or pull more than 15kg. Being able to bend, lift, reach above shoulder, walk long distances at times, and sit for extended periods of time are requirements. Computer keyboarding skills and proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Excel and SharePoint. Ability to prioritize and manage stress. Must be able to maintain calm demeanor during difficult conversations with patients, staff and visitors. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Demonstrated maintenance of AHS Required Organizational Learning (ROL).
Experience in an Ambulatory Care setting. Experience in Oncology/Hematology department. Proficiency in Connect Care platforms including registration and patient scheduling.
