Cardiovascular Perfusionist I

Reporting and accountable to the Maz OR Unit Managers and Patient Care Manager, key responsibilities include safe and efficient preparation for and management of cardiopulmonary bypass and related cardiopulmonary support modalities for adult, pediatric and infant patients. In consultation with and under the guidance of attending physicians, administers various anesthetic and medical gases, other related pharmaceuticals, blood and blood products and various crystalloid solutions. Provides cardiopulmonary support to adult and pediatric patients requiring extra corporeal life support or long-term ventricular assist device. May be requested to provide other supportive therapies within the Clinical Perfusion scope of practice, including intra-aortic balloon pump, autologous blood processing and transplant organ circulatory support. Duties affecting the safety and well-being of the patient are carried out in accordance with the Recommended Guidelines for The Standards of Practice of Clinical Perfusion and the Code of Ethical Conduct of the Canadian Society of Clinical Perfusion (CSCP). The successful applicant will also be required to perform Leadership duties where needed.

As a Cardiovascular Perfusionist I, you are responsible for the safe and efficient preparation for and management of cardiopulmonary bypass and related cardiopulmonary support modalities for adult, pediatric and infant patients. You will work in consultation with attending physicians and will administer various anaesthetic and medical gases, other related pharmaceuticals, blood and blood products and various crystalloid solutions.

Completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Perfusion training program. Active or eligible for registration with Canadian Society of Clinical Perfusion (CSCP). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Providers (BCLS-HCP).

Canadian Society of Clinical Perfusion (CSCP) Certification (CPC) within two years of start date is required, however, in lieu of such, American Board (ABCP) Certification (CCP) may be considered prior to obtaining CSCP. Continuing education and maintenance of CSCP educational credits are required. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills required.
