Description
We are seeking an experienced Anesthesia Respiratory Therapist (RT) to support Edmonton Zone Anesthesia departments in the Respiratory Therapy Clinical Instructor (Technologies) role. The RT Clinical Instructor (Technologies) will support education and development of staff in Edmonton Zone Anesthesia Respiratory Therapy departments and those in the Anesthesia Care Team (expanded role). This is an Edmonton Zone role and will report to the Patient Care Manager - Centralized Surgical Programming and Planning and will be guided by EZ anesthesiology leadership.
As a Clinical Instructor (Technologies), your primary responsibility will be the education and development of staff in our department, as well as other disciplines through orientation and continuing education. You will promote excellence and consistency in best evidence patient care in clinical practice. You will provide direct patient care in order to maintain competency and to understand the educational needs of the department. You will have a role in quality assurance and improvement initiatives, lead and/or participate in research projects, and develop training and educational modules/tools for new equipment/therapy and training requirements.
Active or eligible for registration with the applicable College or Association.
Graduate from a recognized school of Respiratory Therapy. Current active registration in good standing with the CRTA College of Respiratory Therapy of Alberta is required. Current BCLS-HCP registration is required at all times. 3-5 years' recent clinical experience as an Anesthesia Respiratory Therapist in acute care operating room and anesthesia settings is required. Current Anesthesia Assistant Certification or willingness to complete additional modules toward Anesthesia Assistant Certification is required. The successful candidate should possess the following: strong interpersonal, oral and written skills; strong organizational and planning skills; strong problem-solving, decision-making and leadership skills; and strong collaboration skills. This self-directed individual should be flexible and adaptable and possess the ability to manage and facilitate changes within a fast-paced environment.
Relevant Baccalaureate preparation preferred. Recognized advanced continuing education work and previous educator experience preferred. Previous experience in the development of evidence-based practice standards and the development and maintenance of quality assurance and quality control programs preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
