Currently recruiting for two 0.5 FTE part time temporary positions. As a Diagnostic Sonographer you will be working at the University of Alberta Hospital in general ultrasound meeting the needs for Inpatients, Emergency Department patients, outpatients and the Kaye Edmonton Clinic patients, for both Adults and Pediatrics. Working as part of this dynamic, fast-paced department will surely enhance your sonography skills with scanning opportunity for abdominal, pelvic, vascular, small parts, interventional, transplants and pediatric services. This learning is supported by an amazing collaboration between Sonographers and Radiologists with regular daily interactions.

As a Diagnostic Sonographer I, you will perform a variety of standardized and complex ultrasound services for the diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. Your responsibilities include preparing the patient for examination, reviewing patient history, explaining procedures, obtaining ultrasound images of diagnostic quality, and takes initial action to resolve abnormal findings. You will assist with diagnosis, clinical intervention and patient management all while ensuring a high level of patient care and safety. Your work may include assisting Radiologists and Cardiologists, Perinatologists and other medical staff with special procedures where required.

Completion of extended diploma from an accredited ultrasound program or completion of certification in Diagnostic Sonography from an accredited program. Active or eligible for registration with Sonography Canada and/or Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).

The ability to transport patients by wheelchair, stretcher, and bed as well as transfer patients by slider board and mechanical lift. Ability to perform mobile Ultrasounds throughout the hospital.

Acute care scanning experience in both adult and pediatric patient populations, It's Your Move training in safe patient handling, sonography ergonomics, Impax, and connect care experience an asset. Preferred experience with Philips and GE Ultrasound machines and student preceptorship. Registration with Sonography Canada in Vascular or American registry of RVT an asset.
