Here at Cancer Care Alberta, it is our goal to be a leader in cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship and palliative care, all on a foundation of world-class research. We are currently accepting applications for a Financial Grants Administrator to join our Clinical Research Unit (CRU) at the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre. The Financial Grants Administrator performs a wide variety of accounting duties covering accounts receivable, accounts payable, study accounts reconciliation and analysis, as well as assisting with other financial duties. As a member of the Arthur Child CRU Finance Team, this position works closely with other Financial Grants Administrators under the direction of the Finance Lead, Senior Financial Analyst - Clinical Research Finance, Business Advisory Services, and the Manager - CRU & Cancer Translational Research Core.

As a Financial Grants Administrator for the Clinical Research Unit, you will develop a detailed working knowledge of sponsoring agencies, AHS and University financial policies and guidelines. This role is responsible for reconciling and maintaining study accounts through invoicing, payments processing, payments/revenues reconciliation as well as reimbursing patients who participate in our clinical trials. You ensure that the granting agency's policies and guidelines on expenditures and reporting are followed. You will create documentation for account terms of reference and ensure appropriate sign-off for financial documents. You will also be responsible for maintaining and updating financial templates in the Clinical Trial Management System and preparing research administration reports. In addition, you will work with sponsoring agencies to resolve finance-related queries and provide assistance to the study team (Principal Investigator, Clinical Research Coordinator, and/or Clinical Research Nurse) on study-related expenses as needed.

Post secondary education in accounting or business administration. Preference given to those with previous experience in a research, healthcare or academic environment.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in a research financial management setting. Solid knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Experience performing and learning complex administrative tasks under minimal supervision or guidance. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Ability to manage finances in a changing and multifaceted environment with diverse and complex issues. Effective communicator with superior organizational skills and attention to detail, and an ability to work within a team environment.

Experience in research administration or clinical trials procedures as well as working knowledge of AHS Finance is an asset.
