Description
If you are a Health Care Aide who likes small town living, this position in Two Hills might be for you! As the successful candidate for this position, you will cover Acute Care and the Stroke and Geriatric Empowerment Rehabilitation unit (SAGE) in the Two Hills Health Centre and model Patient and Family Centered Care. Situated 135km east of Edmonton, Two Hills is an urban center serving an agricultural region. The town has a population of 1,379 while the county has approximately 4,500 people. Residents have easy access to the downtown and commercial areas as well as several parks and playgrounds. The town has a grocery store, several restaurants, gas stations, two banks, various businesses, churches, two schools with kindergarten to grade 12, an arena, curling rink, gym and a golf course. Within a half-hour drive are three beautiful lakes ideal for camping and fishing. As members of the nursing team, Health Care Aides demonstrate genuine interest and respect for our clients and utilize your knowledge, skills, and abilities to competently provide direct client care. Client care may include assisting clients with activities of daily living, treatments, and treatment plans, and other nursing team related activities.
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification.
Able to perform duties that involve periods of physical activity such as standing, walking, bending, and lifting weights up to 25 kg.
Recent experience in Acute Care and/or Rehab preferred, plus ability to communicate effectively with the elderly. Experience with Connect Care, and general computer skills are preferred.
