HR Technician - Time and Labour

Reporting to the Time & Labour Senior Advisor, the T&L HR Technician is a functional expert that contributes to the successful pay processing for over 100,000 employees. The T&L HR Technician maintains knowledge of Alberta Health Services, Alberta Precision Labs and Covenant Health collective agreements, NUEE Terms and Conditions, and employment legislation. This role provides support to the Time & Labour, Payroll and other teams within HR Shared Services (HRSS) as well as other T&L partners. The T&L HR Technician also works with Timekeepers, Time Approvers and Managers to ensure compliance with T&L Audit requirements. In Time & Labour’s fast paced and challenging environment, the successful incumbent will be responsible for the following. Transact daily, weekly and bi-weekly pay processes including interfacing data files into PeopleSoft from clients on Telestaff and Workforce ESP systems. Monitor systems processes and rules to ensure they operate efficiently, correctly and in a timely manner. Receive, manage and investigate complex issues, questions or concerns from HRSS teams, Workforce ESP, Telestaff, Covenant Health, Carewest or Alberta Precision Labs. Provide support, guidance and direction to the HRSS Time & Labour and Payroll teams regarding issues, issues, and support for system processes. Escalate any issues or required changes to established Time & Labour/Payroll policies, system rules or processes to the T&L Sr Advisor. Support and conduct testing for Time & Labour e-People system changes and improvements. Collaborate and establish relationships with Time & Labour partners. Be responsible for internal audit of unapproved reported time and ensure audit compliance for time approval is met. Be responsible for the segregation of duties between time approvers and timekeepers.

As an HR Technician, you will require specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.

Completion of post-secondary education in a related field.

Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) completed certification is required. Previous payroll processing and Time & Labour experience ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity required. Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook) required. Post-secondary education related to business administration or human resources. Equivalences of education and experience demonstrated by progressively more responsible roles may be considered.

Experience with PeopleSoft preferred. Experience in a unionized environment preferred. ESP knowledge preferred.
