Description
Are you passionate about caring for newborns and families in a critical care area? Perhaps a career in NICU is for you! This position acts as a primary care provider, using professional knowledge, technical and interpersonal skills, clinical judgment and nursing processes to deliver professional nursing care to individuals and families with a variety of health care needs. Successful applicant will: Competently utilize nursing process in providing direct patient care to high risk infants in a Level 2 NICU. Have an interest in developing strong neonatal assessment skills with appropriate intervention skillset. Involve and advocate for the family in all matters of care. Work in a family centered care environment. Effectively make decisions and able to adapt to changing situations. Have strong skills in organization and priority setting. Have strong skills in building commitment and trust with clients and co-workers. Work collaboratively with the inter-disciplinary team.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Basic computer skills. Current NRP certification. Good communication skills and ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships. Competence in relevant technical nursing skills and a willingness to learn new skills as required. Demonstrated ongoing responsibility for maintaining own continuing competence through professional development activities. Ability to work shift work. Ability to meet the physical demands of the job.
Recent Level 2 NICU experience preferred.
