Description
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Home care experience within the last 2 years. Recent clinical experience functioning at the full scope of practice (Physical Assessment, Wound care/training, Medications, IV therapy). Time management and organizational skills. Effective oral and written communication. Experience with Meditech electronic documentation. Ability to collaborate with the Home Care Case Manager. Ability to prioritize and work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team. Ability to understand and carry out nursing activities following the Continuing Care Health Service Standards. Knowledge of Wellness, Independence Model of Care and Patient/Family Centred Care. Knowledge of community resources. Leadership abilities. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team in a fast-paced; ever-changing environment. Ability to work with people in a healthcare environment with professionalism and respect. Negotiating skills with clients, caregivers and families. Ability to perform all assigned tasks and direct clinical care including but not limited to constant adjustment of position (sit/stand) throughout the shift. Physical exertion, including bending/walking/sitting or standing for long periods. Keyboarding/mousing and documentation for prolonged periods. Experience caring for palliative clients and families. Recent clinical experience in psychiatric and geriatric nursing.
