Description
Wetaskiwin has an exciting opportunity for an LPN in their Emergency/Outpatients Department! Wetaskiwin Emergency Department (ED) is a 22 bed unit. As an LPN in our ED and member of our nursing care team, your Emergency Department experience will be valuable in our busy department. You will also demonstrate genuine interest and respect for our patients and utilize your knowledge, skills, and abilities to competently provide direct patient and family centered care. You may also be required to share your skills and experience on the acute care units. Wetaskiwin is located 70 km south of Edmonton in the heart of Central Alberta. The city name comes from the Cree word which means “the hills where peace was made”. You can take a self-guided tour through the historic downtown and read about the peace cairn that commemorates sixty years of peace between the Blackfoot and the Cree. Wetaskiwin has an extensive trail system that leads you around the entire city with a direct connection to By-the-Lake Park. Year round markets provide citizens and visitors with fresh fruit, produce and many different homemade items. The Manluk Centre offers swim lessons, Fitness programs and Aquatic Leadership courses, as well as party facilities. There’s always something to do in Wetaskiwin!
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
One year experience as an LPN in Emergency Department. CTAS- Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale certification in the last 2 years. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention 2 day training course.
