Description
Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre has an opportunity for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team. As an LPN at our rural hospital, you will work in a variety of areas: this includes a 10 bed ER, a 19-bed acute care unit, a 10 bed Goal (Goal oriented active living) unit, and our busy labor and delivery area. As an LPN working at our facility, you will be a vital part of our collaborative health care team. Previous experience will be valuable in transitioning to the Rural Nurse role; however, you will be provided with mentorship and education opportunities to increase competence and confidence in the rural nurse role. You will be expected to provide safe and competent care to our patients in a collaborative, family centered care approach. As a member of our team, you will be flexible in what area of the hospital you work in as priorities will change rapidly between each unit. Ponoka, which means Elk in Blackfoot serves a large First Nations community. Our town is located along Highway 2 in the Battle River Valley within an hour drive to major cities. Our community provides a great opportunity for families, adventurists, and people wanting a rural life.
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
As required.
CTAS- Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale certification in the last 2 years. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention. Neonatal Resuscitation Program. CAM-A, CAM-B, Lead 2.
