Performs, produces, and records a variety of defined diagnostic imaging examinations, including but not limited to ensuring that the quality of patient care is maintained at a high level. Review documentation to ensure no errors in patient identification and that the correct examination is performed. Communicating to the patient; preparing, explaining, and positioning the patient for the examination. Preparing and/or administering imaging agents as authorized. Reviewing images for completeness of examination, sorting images, and checking with the Radiologist when necessary. Maintaining quality control in the performance of all procedures; is responsible for the quality and accuracy of images produced, as per departmental policies and procedures. Recording all necessary data in patient charts as required and appropriate. Ensuring that all data entry and paperwork requirements are completed for each patient. Is responsible for safety measures and the general care and cleanliness of their respective area, particularly as it applies to infection control and radiation safety measures. Operates, maintains, and reports malfunctions of all instrumentation and equipment. Performs daily Quality Assurance activities: such as Daily exam logs, phantom QA, failed verification checks, image corrections, etc., as required.

As a Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) I, you will perform a variety of standard technical radiological imaging examinations on patients for the purpose of disease and pathology diagnosis. You will interpret physician requisitions, prepare and assess patients for examination and produce high quality diagnostic images for Physician/Radiologist review, and assist with the care and maintenance of equipment. Your work may include a variety of procedures such as general and portable radiography, mobile and surgical suite examinations, as well as fluoroscopy where required.

Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
