The Strathcona Community Hospital, located in Sherwood Park, Alberta, is an innovative facility delivering primary health care, community-based services, and a 24-hour emergency department with on-site diagnostic imaging support. Strathcona County is a vibrant urban service area, known for its extensive parks and trails, offering a balance of outdoor recreation and city conveniences. Situated next to Edmonton, Sherwood Park is recognized as Alberta’s sixth-largest city, while maintaining the close-knit feel of a hamlet. As a Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT I) at Strathcona Community Hospital, you’ll be an integral part of a small, highly collaborative team that feels more like family. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with physicians, nurses, and fellow technologists, ensuring seamless patient care in a fast-paced environment. Our facility offers the chance to maintain and enhance your skills in both Computed Tomography (CT) and General Radiography (GR)-a balance not always available at larger centers. This position is currently part of a Night rotation, offering an opportunity to work more independently while still being supported by a dedicated team. As operational needs evolve, there may be future opportunities for schedule adjustments, offering flexibility and potential variety in shift rotations.

As a Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) I, you will perform a variety of standard technical radiological imaging examinations on patients for the purpose of disease and pathology diagnosis. You will interpret physician requisitions, prepare and assess patients for examination and produce high quality diagnostic images for Physician/Radiologist review, and assist with the care and maintenance of equipment. Your work may include a variety of procedures such as general and portable radiography, mobile and surgical suite examinations, as well as fluoroscopy where required.

Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
