Mental Health Aide

We are looking for individuals passionate about supporting clients and their families through moderate to severe addictions and mental health treatment streams. Reporting to the Care Manager, Youth Specialized Services, or designate, this position will provide one-to-one and group support to clients and families of addiction and mental health services, according to the client’s individual service plan and/or treatment plan. Using a client-centered approach, service will be provided in a variety of community settings, providing support and assistance to promote higher functioning, including social, physical, and emotional well-being, while fostering self-determination and independence. This position is listed as multi-site indicating you may provide services within the Children’s Addictions & Mental Health Portfolio including at Unit 39 (Red Deer Hospital), PChAD, or others as assigned within Red Deer. You will demonstrate the ability to take initiative, work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, and have exemplary communication and conflict resolution skills. This position has been identified and is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Mental Health Aide, you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team to provide a welcoming and safe care environment. You will assist in the provision of direct patient/client care as delegated in a person-centered, recovery oriented and safe manner. In this position, you will assist and / or promote independence to patients/clients in completing activities of daily living as well as assisting other health professionals with providing treatments and observing and reporting relevant patient/client information to professional staff. You will assist new patients/clients and families with orientation, and assist in the general support of the work area.

Completion of Grade 12. A combination of education and experience satisfactory to the employer will also be considered.

Two years’ experience, within the last four years, with the Child and Youth Population.

Experience in non-violent crisis intervention is an asset. Mental Health First Aid is considered an asset.
