The Access 24/7 Program provides a wide range of addiction and mental health services to the residents of the City of Edmonton and surrounding suburban areas. Services are offered to clients and their families in the least intrusive and most appropriate manner, and include system navigation, screening, assessment, referral, consultation, crisis intervention, and community outreach. Interventions may be done in the clinic, community, or in a client’s home, dependent on the identified needs. In this Mental Health Therapist position, you will have the opportunity to coordinate with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals providing quality, client focused, recovery based, concurrent capable, culturally appropriate care to those seeking supports/services within Addictions and Mental Health. As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to perform the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention utilizing a variety of treatment modalities to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, and treatment.

Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

Consideration will also be given to Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with a related Master’s degree including training in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy or, considerable experience in mental health assessment and treatment. Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Minimum of 3 years of relevant mental health experience. A minimum of 3 years direct crisis experience, preferably in a community setting. Formal clinical training in triage, intervention, stabilization and case management skills, preferably in a community setting. Ability to ambulate, climb stairs, and move quickly without limitations in a variety of environments. Extensive knowledge of the resources of Addiction and Mental Health and the community.

Demonstrated ability to work well with a range of community and agency stakeholders as well as clients and families.
