The Adult Community Services Churchill Square Clinic provides a wide range of addiction and mental health treatment to the residents of the City of Edmonton and surrounding suburban areas. The ACS program adheres to the Edmonton Zone Addiction & Mental Health Principles of Care providing quality, client focused, recovery based, concurrent capable, culturally appropriate care to those seeking supports/services within Addictions and Mental Health. Services are offered to clients and their families in the least intrusive and most appropriate manner, and include assessment, individual and group treatment, and consultation. Interventions may be done in the clinic, community, or in a client’s home, dependent on the identified needs. In this Mental Health Therapist (MHT) position you will work within an interdisciplinary team to provide individual and group treatment, as well as necessary case management to clients with a wide variety of clinical presentations. The MHT engages their client in assessment, treatment, and evaluation of care plans to clients with complex addiction and mental health needs. The MHT works collaboratively with the client’s primary care provider to transition care back to their medical home once stabilized. The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge of addiction and mental health diagnosis with experience providing treatment for these complex needs and be able to navigate the health system to ensure the coordination of services to best meet the client’s needs. This candidate will be able multitask and effectively manage multiple priorities and demands with a large caseload. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Non-Violent Crisis Intervention. Minimum of 3 years of relevant mental health experience, preferably in a community setting. Knowledge and experience with providing individual and group psychotherapy using evidenced-based modalities, preferably in a community setting. Knowledge and experience treating individuals experiencing addiction (substance and/or process). Ability to ambulate, climb stairs, and move quickly without limitations in a variety of environments. This candidate will have a good working knowledge of legislation regarding mental health care including the Alberta Mental Health Act and Community Treatment Orders (CTO).

Extensive knowledge of the resources of Addiction and Mental Health and the community. A strong understanding of client resources in the community and knowledge of mental health legislation including Community Treatment Orders is an asset.
