As a Mental Health Therapist (MHT) with the Edmonton Early Psychosis Intervention Clinic (EEPIC) you will be working with a group of mental health professionals who are passionate about supporting individuals who are experiencing early and first episode psychosis. EEPIC is a specialized, multi-disciplinary intensive case management program and the MHT provides community-based, recovery-oriented assessment, biopsychosocial intervention, support, psychoeducation, assertive engagement and follow-up. The MHT must be able to assess needs, plan and provide interventions and evaluate outcomes for individuals from a strength-based, trauma-informed lens according to the Early Psychosis Standards and Guidelines. In this role, you will see clients in both clinic and community settings to remove barriers for individuals accessing services and it will be a hybrid of both case management and therapy (individual and group). Connecting with the participants virtually and/or in person you will use the Transition to Independence Process model in practice, to facilitate goal setting in the areas of employment, career, living situation, community life functioning, and personal well-being. Through assertive engagement, you will mentor and guide clients to utilize available community-based resources to support their recovery process and you will collaborate with providers, families, and the young person’s key support systems to implement strategies to help them achieve their goals. You will have strong organization skills and thrive on being self-directed in your work. You will have adept communication skills and be comfortable navigating different systems and working with complex issues relating to the addiction and mental health of young adults.

As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

A minimum two (2) years addiction and mental health experience within the last five (5) years. Experience working with Psychosis and/or First Episode Psychosis. Case Management Experience. Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Experience doing Community Outreach. Considerable experience in addition and mental health assessment and treatment. Experience with addiction and mental health therapeutic interventions/modalities such as DBT, CBT, EMDR, Solution Focused Therapy. Experience and training in delivering psychoeducation and therapy groups.
