Alberta Health Services is evolving with the times, and we invite you to join our multidisciplinary team providing Advanced Ambulatory Care to Central Alberta patients in a positive, efficient, and patient-focused environment. As a successful Nurse Practitioner (NP) candidate, you will work to your full scope of practice, integrating clinical skills from both nursing and medicine. Your role will involve assessing, diagnosing, ordering, and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing treatments, and performing procedures to address and meet patients' health needs. Our site currently sees an average of 59 patient visits per day (June/July 2023), with expected seasonal fluctuations. The role encompasses the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and disposition of patients, catering to a range of CTAS 2-5 cases. Onsite services include laboratory and X-ray facilities. There are no inpatient beds or monitoring available. Established protocols are in place for patients requiring emergent care (911) and higher levels of care (RAAPID). Consultation support is accessible via RAAPID, including Red Deer Regional Hospital (RDRH) Emergency (ER), RDRH specialties, and non-local specialties. While there is no onsite security, coverage can be requested or 911 initiated if needed. Acceptance of EMS transport is determined by the Most Responsible Practitioner (MRP) after reviewing and discussing with the EMS crew prior to arrival.

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems.
