Description
The Pharmacy Operations Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and supervising the day-to-day operations of the Central Alberta Cancer Centre (CACC) pharmacy department in Red Deer, Alberta. The Central Alberta Cancer Centre is one of 4 regional cancer centers in Alberta providing comprehensive cancer care services to cancer patients. The CACC Pharmacy is an integral component to the facility providing outpatient dispensing to cancer patients in central Alberta. As a Pharmacist II, you will be responsible for the following: Ensure overall performance of site-level pharmacy services. Build, maintain, and engage relationships with pharmacy managers, site leadership, site-based colleagues, provincial pharmacy and cancer teams, and external partners, as required. Participation in multidisciplinary work groups, committees, projects, and programs as required. Provide operational leadership, guidance, and mentorship to site pharmacy staff and students (communication, troubleshooting, issue resolution, staff scheduling, staff orientation & training, reassigning & redistributing workload, recruitment, mentoring & supporting team members, performance development). Oversee implementation of new and/or changes to procedures, policies, or workflows at site-level. Strategic planning and budget oversight. Medication error prevention, reporting, and follow-up. Provide direct patient care (reviewing medication orders, checking and dispensing medications, monitoring drug therapy; assessment, intervention and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems; detecting and reporting adverse drug reactions; providing patient and health care provider education). Additional duties, as per job description and as required.
As a Pharmacist II, you will provide clinical leadership for the activities of the Pharmacy Department or region. This includes training and general instruction for staff along with providing specialized knowledge and expertise in regards to pharmacy practice.
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).
Bachelor of Science (Pharmacy). Registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP). Additional Prescribing Authorization (APA) from ACP. A minimum of five years of pharmacy experience, preferably in hospital and/or ambulatory dispensing settings. Managerial or supervisory experience.
Demonstarted self-directed learning, excellent communication skills (both written & verbal) and interpersonal skills, time management skills, organization, and problem-solving skills. Active membership in the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists (CSHP) and/or Canadian Association of Pharmacy in Oncology (CAPhO). Experience with oncology and IV admixtures. Experience with Connect Care (WIP & WAM), Windows and Microsoft computer applications, and Telehealth operations,
