Description
Reporting directly to the ACT Provincial Program Director and working in collaboration with the ACT Program Education Lead, the ACT Clinical Educator (CE) will be responsible for development, implementation planning, and coordination of educational programs including orientation, compulsory educational programs, clinical development, designing and facilitating simulations, provincial travelling for on-site delivery of education materials or site evaluations and continuing education. While the primary focus of the role is to support the educational needs and practice requirements of anesthesia assistants, the CE will support the educational needs of all ACT members and will promote a culture of continuous learning and safety within AHS. In addition to creation of learning resources, assessment tools, and lesson plans, the CE’s will also be responsible for delivering content virtually and in person, scheduling clinical rotations, meeting with students and preceptors, monitoring progress, addressing learning concerns, and evaluating learning. The CE will utilize adult learning principles when developing education and responding to the education needs of ACT team members. This role requires collaboration with all members of the interprofessional team and with internal or external stakeholders.
As a Respiratory Therapist III - Clinical Practice Lead, you will be responsible for mentoring, promoting standards of practice, responding to clinical questions, and coordinating ongoing skill and student development within your team. You will collaborate with managers and supervisors in the provision and access to internal and external continuing education and professional development programs including certifications and upgrades.
Active or eligible for registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).
Active registration with the applicable College or Association. Five (5) years recent, related operating room experience. Experience in the application of adult learning principles, educational program delivery, and measurement of learning outcomes. The successful candidate should possess the following: strong collaboration, interpersonal and communication skills; strong organizational and planning skills; strong problem-solving, decision-making and leadership skills; and strong computer skills in MS Teams, SharePoint, and MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Simulation Facilitation Training. Degree or certification in Adult Education or related field. Current BCLS-HCP and ACLS registration. Certified Clinical Anesthesia Assistant (CCAA) designation. Completion of an accredited post-graduate accredited Anesthesia Assistant Program or equivalent.
