You’re an adaptable problem-solver and critical thinker. Your excellent understanding of group benefit and retirement programs helps you analyze data and statistics and assess the programs for continued growth and success. Alberta Health Services (AHS) and the Health Benefits Trust of Alberta (HBTA) needs someone like you for the role of Senior Advisor, Employee Benefits & Retirement Programs Centre of Expertise (EBRP COE). As an organization of over 100,000, we need someone who’s up to the challenge of working in a multi-union, and multiple plan environment. You are a subject matter expert in data analytics related to group benefit and retirement programs. You utilize project management skills to add value to our Total Rewards Programs. Working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, you’ll provide client-focused service and support as you provide in-depth complex data and statistical analysis of group benefit and retirement programs. You will assess stakeholder needs and develop innovative solutions to provide a best-in-class program experience. Your experience in leveraging people strategy will help you effectively manage partnerships with key stakeholders while also developing and maintaining strong working relationships. The team for this position is primarily based in Edmonton and Calgary, but the location is negotiable within Alberta.

As a member of this dynamic and strategic group benefits and retirement programs team, the Senior Advisor position provides expert analytics skills and advice that contributes to the success and sustainability of group benefits and retirement programs to Alberta Health Services and the Health Benefits Trust of Alberta. Partnering with key stakeholders, you will develop targeted solutions and needs-based programming in collaboration with Human Resource teams, AHS departments, unions, consultants and service providers. You will bring deep subject matter expertise to provide leadership to your peers as you make decisions, observe trends, analyze existing programs, and engage in alternative scenario assessment to accurately determine the impact of plan changes. An ideal candidate will use project management, critical thinking/problem solving, data and statistical analysis, financial management, risk identification, and policy/contract development to contribute to the overall effective management of the Employee Benefits & Retirement Programs team.

CEBS designation or other related professional designation. A combination of education, skills and experience may be considered.

3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar role in a complex environment; demonstrates understanding of the insurance industry, employee benefits/retirement programs, and total rewards programs. Proven ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships and work collaboratively in a team environment and meet organizational requirements under tight deadlines. Proficiency with computer programs, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerBI, PowerPoint, Outlook Email, Teams). Use of new and innovative ways to achieve positive outcomes and solutions. Demonstrates independent, critical thinking, strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work with others to achieve common goals and objectives.

Business degree, underwriting, project management training, actuarial, investment, financial planner or accounting certification. More than 5 years’ experience in a similar role in a complex environment. Understanding of group benefit and retirement program trending.
