The Enterprise Data Governance Senior Analyst will be responsible for data tagging, masking and auditing within the Snowflake and other DnA environments. They will be responsible for monitoring access and use of data and managing data masking strategies within the Enterprise Data Warehouse to support the responsible and compliant utilization of healthcare data within the organization's data warehouse. The job exists to address the critical need for safeguarding sensitive information while maintaining the utility of data for analytical and operational purposes. As Alberta Health Services handle vast amounts of data, the risk of unauthorized access and data breaches is significant. The Alberta Health Services Enterprise Data Governance Senior Analyst plays a crucial role in protecting individual privacy, meeting regulatory and legislative requirements, and reducing the risk of unauthorized data exposure. The importance of the role extends to maintaining trust with co-workers, clients, and stakeholders, ensuring compliance with data protection laws, and supporting secure and responsible data practices within the organization. The Data Governance Analyst is responsible for overseeing data access, ensuring compliance with governance policies, and maintaining security and privacy standards within the healthcare sector. This role involves monitoring data interactions, enforcing best practices, and supporting regulatory adherence to safeguard sensitive information. Key Responsibilities: Monitor and audit data access, ensuring alignment with governance policies and regulatory requirements. Protect patient data by preventing unauthorized access and mitigating potential security breaches. Implement masking techniques, data classification, and de-identification strategies to comply with privacy regulations and security standards. Maintain detailed records of data access and use, enabling transparency and facilitating investigations into discrepancies or unauthorized actions. Identify and address risks associated with data access, reducing the likelihood of misuse, errors, or integrity issues. Ensure that data is accessed and utilized responsibly, fostering trust among patients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies. Recommend policy enhancements, identify areas for better data access practices, and contribute to training initiatives promoting responsible data management.

Strong understanding of data governance, privacy regulations, and security best practices. Experience with data classification, masking, and access monitoring. Ability to analyze and mitigate risks related to data access and use. Strong attention to detail, compliance expertise, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with stakeholders.

Relevant certifications can strengthen the candidate's profile. Certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or vendor-specific data masking certifications. Training in data governance principles and data privacy regulations is important. Understanding the legal and regulatory landscape around data protection is crucial for implementing effective data auditing and masking strategies. Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., SQL) and scripting languages. Practical hands-on experience with data classification, auditing, masking tools, and techniques. Commitment to continuous learning is essential. Effective communication and collaboration are crucial for engaging with stakeholders.

Multiple years of hands-on experience working directly with large provincial health care data sets. Experience in providing training sessions for analysts on data auditing and masking. Leadership skills for guiding and influencing others in adopting best practices. Experience in Snowflake or similar data warehouses with privacy enhancing technologies.
