One in five people experience a mental health concern. Located at Alberta Hospital Edmonton, Adult Acute Services Unit 10-2 is a 29-bed inpatient psychiatry program for adults aged 18-65. The Social Worker is an instrumental part of the multidisciplinary team on Unit 10-2, assisting acutely unwell adults with various psychosocial needs. Duties include assessment, education, advocacy, resource finding, securing housing, and discharge planning for clients and their families. The incumbent will also participate in activities such as program planning, evaluation, quality improvement, research, and staff development. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).

Two years’ recent (within past three years) experience in an Addiction and Mental Health role. Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree is required. A Masters degree in Social Work is preferred. CPR (BLS-HCP) certification is necessary. The successful candidate must possess strong communication skills while being able to work effectively and efficiently with clients, families, and all members of the health care team. Strong organizational skills as well as excellent time-management and documentation abilities are required.

Experience working with acutely unwell individuals within the Edmonton Zone AMH framework is preferred. Experience working with concurrent disorders and trauma is preferred. Strata pathways housing experience as well as Connect Care training and access is preferred.
