Description
The Team-Lead- Addiction and Mental Health position plays a pivotal role in providing leadership, support, and consultation to ASPIRE Homes staff and clientele. The Team-Lead also provides direct support in a 24-hour “secure group-home” setting to Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) clients with “Complex Service Needs” who require wellness and recovery-oriented support and supervision, while also offering direction to families, guardians as well as to service providers and community partners. The Team Lead works directly with clients and their families to assist them to live in their residence and as part of their community. The Team-Lead is responsible for the efficient operation of a designated home(s) within the ASPIRE Homes Program. Working under the guidance and direction of the ASPIRE Homes Care Manager, the Team-Lead provides leadership and guidance to front line Mental Health Recovery Workers (MHRWs), prioritizes worksite activities and coordinates quality assurance functions in accordance with established Recovery Alberta Standards and Practices as well as ensuring staff ratios comply with Recovery Alberta’s standard policies. The incumbent will work collaboratively with other Team-Lead’s and multidisciplinary team members to promote unity and teamwork across the broader program. Work at the Team-Lead level is differentiated from that of a MHRW by the duties of leadership, day-to-day operational coordination, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, and the latitude to address/resolve escalated issues or problems where there may not be established processes or guidelines.
The Team Lead executes a pivotal role in providing leadership, support, supervision, and consultation to all front-line Recovery Support Workers (RSW). Key responsibilities include in-scope leadership; day-to-day operational coordination; liaising with internal and external stakeholders; and the latitude to address/resolve escalated issues or problems where there may not be established processes or guidelines. Skills in competencies related to creative problem solving, agility, and systems thinking are crucial to your success in this role. Reporting to the ASPIRE Care Manager, the Team Lead will work collaboratively with other Team Leads and the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) to model and demonstrate a clinical approach that is rooted in the concepts of wellness and home. This recovery-orientated model of care engages residents in a variety of person-centered practices that support skill development and community inclusion as part of the residents¿ journey to community living. You will be a champion of change for ASPIRE Homes, which are part of Alberta Hospital Edmonton's (AHE) Ambition 2023 strategy a quality care initiative set to renew services offered within AHEs inpatient, outpatient and residential programs.
Diploma in a health related field. Degree in humanities or health related field is preferred. Equivalent combination of education, skills and experience may be considered.
Ability to understand, read, write, and speak fluent English. Basic Life Support (BLS) training. Non-violent crisis intervention (NVCI) training. Supervisory/leadership experience. Experience working with individuals who have Intellectual Disability, Neurodevelopmental Disorders, and complex mental health challenges including Concurrent Disorders and Harm Reduction approaches.
ASIST training. Knowledge of the Persons with Developmental Disabilities system. Knowledge of Recovery Alberta system and resources, including Alberta Hospital Edmonton programs. Experience providing Trauma Informed Care, family centered care, and collaborating with the Office of the Public Guardian/Trustees. Knowledge of psychotropic medications. Experience with AWOL and safety protocols, Behavioral Support Plans and Critical Incident Reports.
