As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.

Knowledge of and successful completion of Medical Terminology is required. Well-developed time-management skill. Ability to remain focused in stressful acute patient situations. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required. Ability to communicate effectively to others, both verbally and in writing. Ability to prioritize work and effectively cope with frequent interruptions, noise, and other nearby distractions. Basic typing and computer skills are required. Ability to work as a team member and to request and accept direction as required.

Previous experience in Addiction and Mental health, basic knowledge of Psychiatric terminology preferred. Proficient user of Windows based applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
