Description

The Emergency Department at the Peter Lougheed Centre is a 69 bed department. It is comprised of an interdisciplinary department that provides care to patients of varying acuity. Reporting to the Unit Manager, the unit clerk in the Emergency Department at the Peter Lougheed Hospital works as an essential member of the multidisciplinary team. Specific Accountabilities: The Unit Clerk is instrumental in facilitating communication between health disciplines, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. The position is an essential to the smooth and efficient operations of the Emergency Department.
As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Recent Unit Clerk Experience in an urban emergency department (within the last year). Epic-Connect care trained within Emergency ASAP module currently active. Current Referral Management Experience. Proficient computer skills (proficient in typing). Good command of English language. Excellent communication skills.
MUSE, Sharepoint, SIREN, Netcare, I-Request. Demonstrates ability to work independently and collaborate within a team. Demonstrates organizational skills. Ability to prioritize and remain calm under stressful situations. Up to date ACE modules.
