What the day will look likeThe Infrastructure Partner will direct our investment approach and lead the execution and global delivery of Infrastructure investment consulting, advice and solutions for institutional clients on both an advisory and discretionary basis. The Infrastructure Partner will participate in the design, marketing, and implementation of pooled internal products and will also play a significant role in marketing activities intended to develop new business relationships. The position requires the design, coordination, preparation and delivery of consulting assignments, as well as driving investment research efforts and oversight of junior staff.
This role will report directly to the Senior Partner, Head of Research for Private Equity & Infrastructure.
- Lead the execution and delivery of all Infrastructure consulting materials and advice;
- Represent the firm to investment managers by establishing, coordinating and maintaining investment manager relationships;
- Build and maintain investment pipeline;
- Drive and coordinate underwriting/research process;
- Contribute to the creation of thought leadership pieces;
- Participate in and give to the success of marketing activities including speaking at conferences, RFP completion, new business pitches and identifying new opportunities;
- Coach/mentor junior professionals and maintain constructive relationships with others in the firm;
- Provide leadership that contributes to the success of the research area;
- Efficiently handle internal resources to allow for effective handling of multiple projects for multiple clients/consultants simultaneously;
- Support the firm’s activities in general. Provide proactive and creative support to firm leadership and clients;
- Work closely with other members of the Aon's Global Investment Management team (in Canada and the US);
- Connect with and present to institutional clients showcasing Aon’s manager research capabilities as well as the firm’s thought leadership; and
- Speak at internal and external conferences.
Be part of our global and extremely collaborative investment team in this dynamic, wide-ranging role. The role offers opportunities to guide Aon’s strategy and approach to investing in infrastructure and implement that strategy with a wide variety of institutional clients and internal products. You will work closely with our leaders of Real Estate and Private Equity as well as collaborate with leaders across Aon’s Wealth practice to drive Aon’s approach to Infrastructure investing.
Skills and experience that will lead to success- 15+ years of progressive investment experience evaluating infrastructure or private equity investment managers and/or securities from an equity, debt or investment banking type of position;
- MBA, or equivalent experience in related field and/or professional certification e.g. CFA or CAIA, a plus;
- Detailed understanding of the institutional investment industry and investment processes, ideally through direct experience in fund management, investment consulting, or other positions in institutional investing;
- Extensive knowledge of the overall infrastructure industry including managers and investors;
- Deep network of industry contacts;
- History of successful infrastructure investing experience in primary funds and co-investments;
- Strong commercial and regulatory understanding across various infrastructure sectors, including utilities, power and renewables, transportation, and digital preferred;
- Strong understanding of structuring and tax considerations impacting investors in various geographic locations preferred;
- Knowledge of techniques used in valuation, security analysis / fund selection and portfolio construction;
- Comprehensive understanding of investment risk metrics and their application in portfolio management;
- A solid foundation of finance and investment theory and practice, including performance measurement and attribution analysis, with a private equity /infrastructure perspective;
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills. Including the ability to recognize problems and provide responses, systematically gather information, sort through complex issues, seek input from others, address root cause of issues, make timely decisions, make difficult decisions, use consensus when possible, and communicate decisions to others;
- A self-starter; proactive; undertakes self-development activities; seeks increased responsibilities; takes independent actions and calculated risks; asks for help when needed; develops innovative ideas and recommendations for improving work; challenges the status quo;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;

- Experience with pension funds, plan sponsors, endowments, and foundations desired;
- Influential, persuasive and stretches for higher levels of performance; effectively delegates responsibility and authority; leads by example; manages conflict; administers firm policies uniformly; inspires confidence and respect within practice area and the firm; a mentor to junior team members;
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment;
