This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from our Saskatoon or Winnipeg office.

What the day will look like

As a Consultant in Retirement Consulting, you will have the opportunity to contribute to Aon’s success while you: 

  • Apply your knowledge of basic technical concepts to broad assignments;
  • Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
  • Take ownership of and manage projects, making sure all needs are being met schedule;
  • Delegate work and provide coaching for junior colleagues;
  • Review work for both accuracy and reasonability;
  • Draft original materials (e.g. letters, reports, presentations) with some guidance;
  • Provide technical leadership for client relationships;
  • Attend and participate in client meetings;
  • Communicate on technical topics with clients;
  • Answer client questions, sometimes without reliance on the lead actuary; and
  • Delegate work to and provide coaching for junior colleagues.

How this opportunity is different

Retirement programs have large financial implications for employers. As a Consultant, you will be responsible for supporting passionate client teams in the management of the financial risk of their clients’ retirement programs.

 

In this role, you will work with a broad and diverse array of clients in both the public and private sectors. Collaborating with teams of colleagues, you will contribute to the day-to-day delivery of retirement services. You will also have the opportunity to expand your skills through continued learning.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Self-motivated with a desire to continue learning and growth
  • Ability to manage varying requests with a willingness to go outside of your comfort zone
  • 5+ years of experience in pension plan consulting or related field
  • Written and oral communication skills (English)
  • Well versed in organizational, project management, attention to detail, and thoroughness
  • Proficiency with MS Office software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or another other equivalent degree
  • Working towards becoming a fully qualified actuary (FSA/FCIA)
