Job Summary

The Director of Alliance Management is pivotal in creating an environment and processes that optimize the value of strategic partnerships with third-party partners involved in product development and licensing projects/agreements. This role ensures the cultivation of strategic alliances with our partner community to achieve mutual objectives and maximize collaborative value. They are entrusted with safeguarding the revenues generated through our strategic partnerships with third-party partners.

Key capabilities include the effective management of partner selection and formation, alliance design and governance, and post-formation relationship maintenance. The Director guides decision-making at critical inflection points, ensures milestone achievement, convenes relevant stakeholders, and secures their support for the alliance. Additionally, they excel in problem-solving, conflict resolution, and timely escalation.

Job Responsibilities
  • Collaborateclosely with BD teams and key cross-functional stakeholders (Regulatory, Quality, Legal, R&D, commercial markets) to drive strategic initiatives.
  • Overseeall critical internal functional activities related to third-party development and supply partnerships, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Actas the primary point of escalation internally, ensuring timely and effective issue resolution.
  • Cultivatetrusted relationships with key stakeholders in partner organizations globally, fostering strong alliances.
  • Implementbest practices to ensure seamless collaboration with Apotex while safeguarding our business interests.
  • Developand maintain robust governance structures and communication processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and partnership objectives.
  • Manageand negotiate new and existing agreements, driving continuous revenue improvement.
  • Collaboratewith finance to prepare financial scenarios and sensitivity analyses for investment cases on potential products/deals, ensuring alignment with agreed-upon thresholds. Pressure test financial forecasts and assumptions included in NPV calculations and investment cases.
  • Participatein CD Monthly Meetings and Quarterly Reviews, assisting in target setting and preparing ongoing performance reports.
  • Overseerisk assessments and financial due diligence for current and potential strategic partners.
  • Reviewand approve external BD partner profit-sharing calculations and milestone payments, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with contract terms/obligations.
  • Proactively identifyand address issues and opportunities, driving effective resolution.
  • Monitorand evaluate the performance of key partnerships at the product and supplier levels, identifying and acting on areas for improvement.
  • Identifyand pursue opportunities to enhance or expand existing partnerships and explore new collaborations.
  • Developand maintain Key Performance Indicators and dashboards in collaboration with partners.
  • Support joint business review meetings with key partners on a quarterly basis, ensuring alignment and strategic progress.
Job Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business and/or science.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Possesses extensive knowledge and understanding of the complexities of pharmaceutical supply chains, with a focus on the North American market.
  • Demonstrates a proven ability to collaborate effectively with third-party partners on a global scale.
  • Exhibits strong leadership skills in guiding cross-functional teams and managing conflicting priorities.
  • Proven track record of prioritizing and multitasking efficiently in fast-paced environments.
  • Experienced in contract negotiations, agreements, and term alignments.
  • Well-versed in the pharmaceutical product development process.
  • Strong negotiation, organizational, and analytical skills.

Experience

  • Minimum of 7-10 years demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional groups comprised of internal and external teams in a highly fast paced and complex global pharmaceutical environment, dealing with conflicting priorities.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of complex project management experience in a Global and International pharmaceutical environment; specifically deep knowledge of the Canadian and US markets
  • Min 3-5 years experience in Alliance management type role or other applicable experience
