The Team
The Health Technology Assessment team is a well-established group dedicated to advancing evidence-informed decision-making within the health sector. This team consists of a Director, a Senior Health Economist, a Senior Policy Analyst, and a Policy Analyst, with most members bringing over five years of expertise to their roles. Collaborating with a diverse range of partners, the team plays a crucial role in shaping health sector policies that inform provincial and regional adoption of non-drug therapeutic interventions (e.g. devices, diagnostics, medical procedures, and programs). Working with the Health Technology Assessment Committee, patient representatives, clinicians, and academic experts, this team is committed to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in its work and its approach to decision-making.
The Role
The Policy Analyst is instrumental in supporting evidence-informed policy development. This role involves managing strategic projects, advising senior ministry officials on complex health policy issues, and collaborating with other ministries, healthcare partners, and academic experts. The Policy Analyst’s work directly impacts findings, influencing health outcomes and decision-making processes across the healthcare system. This position provides a unique opportunity to engage in relevant health research and contribute to a respected, globally recognized methodology for health technology assessment.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Public Health, Public Administration, or other social or natural sciences (e.g. biology) and a minimum of 2 years *related experience.
*Related experience includes all the following:
- Researching policy issues and conducting policy analysis.
- Managing projects and/or project components.
- Drafting reports, briefing notes, and other materials for senior leadership.
Preference may be given to applicants with any of the following:
- Master’s Degree in Economics, Public Health, Public Administration, or other social or natural sciences (e.g. biology)
- Experience in health economics.
- Experience in the health sector.
- Experience analyzing qualitative and/or quantitative research.
Preference will be given to applicants who self identify as Indigenous (e.g., First Nations, Métis or Inuit).
- In recognitions of the critical importance to this role of a lived understanding of Indigenous communities, history, values and cultural competencies, the above preference statement will be applied in the final ranked order for those who self-identify as Indigenous throughout the hiring process.
