DIVISION OVERVIEW
BC Data Service (BCDS) is a leader, convener and a trusted advisor for collaborative data solutions that enable government to better serve the people of B.C. BCDS enables teams across government to better deliver services by leading data policy development and management and providing data analysis, tools, platforms, training and support. The BCDS is the trusted go-to leader for data analysis, statistics about people in B.C. and data management.

The division delivers several data access, analysis and use programs that support the modernization of government, including: DataBC, BC Stats, the Data Innovation Program and Data Science Partnerships Program. The division also provides additional data services including, Strategic Data Management, Web Mapping, Location Services, API Services, Data Discovery and Publication and Research and Analytics.

The BCDS is primarily responsible for two major government priorities: implementation of B.C.’s Anti-Racism Data Act and delivery of the BC Data Plan which includes co-development commitments on Indigenous data sovereignty and a framework for using Indigenous languages when interacting with government.

JOB OVERVIEW
The Project Administrator works on the Planning and Engagement team in the Assistant Deputy Minister’s office (ADMO). The ADMO is a high-profile, dynamic, results-oriented environment working on challenging projects with significant internal impacts to the division. The position works with multiple project teams who are delivering mandate commitments and/or highly important deliverables through our Objectives and Key Results Framework. This position leads project planning at the team level.

Job Requirements:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

We appreciate that non-traditional career paths may have developed a candidate's competency and alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered.

  • Bachelor’s degree in project management, business administration, public administration, or a related field and 2 years of related experience; OR
  • Diploma in project management, business administration, public administration, or a related field and 3 years related experience


Related experience must include all of the following:

  • Minimum two (2) years experience independently managing projects.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience in leading and facilitating project teams.


Preference may be given to the applicants who have the following experience:

  • Experience using agile methodologies to deliver projects.
  • Experience using JIRA.
