The Team
The Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation team is a highly impactful provincial team, dedicated to fostering partnerships with First Nations and advancing reconciliation in British Columbia. This close-knit, small, collaborative team plays a crucial role in supporting BC Parks, Recreation Sites, and Trails to be trusted partners in land stewardship. The Role
In this role, you will support strategic priorities that intersect stewardship, recreation, and reconciliation, making a meaningful difference across diverse program areas. You’ll collaborate closely with BC Parks and Rec Sites and Trails teams across the organization and in regional operations to cultivate partnerships with First Nations, develop practical policy that addresses real-life challenges, and ensure the implementation of provincial reconciliation commitments. Your work will have a significant, lasting impact on parks and protected areas, shaping a future that honours and incorporates Indigenous knowledge and responsibilities in collaborative land stewardship.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Degree (Graduate/Master’s degree preferred) in Indigenous Relations, Environmental Studies, Natural Resource Management, Law, Business, Public Administration or a related field and a minimum of three years of directly related experience. OR;
- An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
- Experience in provincial/strategic level policy analysis and development related to environmental management and/or Indigenous relations.
- Experience with program development and project management, including developing proposals, scoping project requirements, directing the work of project resources (e.g., colleagues, contractors, or consultants), managing project budgets, and ensuring project deliverables are completed.
- Experience in leading and/or facilitating effective operation of multi-disciplinary and multi-organizational teams.
- Experience dealing with senior officials and providing advice and recommendations.
Preference may be given to applicants with any of the following:
- Experience with interpretation of Canadian case law, legislation, acts and policies.
- Experience with First Nations issues and principles of collaboration.
- Experience working with Indigenous organizations and/or communities.
- Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous.

About this Position:
This is a temporary opportunity until 11/07/2025. This position may be extended or become permanent.
