Job Summary

The Team
The team at the Smithers MCFD Office is an established and dedicated group committed to supporting the Ministry of Children and Family Development’s mission. This office comprises over 20 staff members, including Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) Clinicians and Social Program Officers and the administrative team. The administrative team is led by the office manager who oversees 3-4 administrative staff, ensuring smooth office operations. The office manager collaborates closely with various roles, including the Director of Operations, team leaders, and other key professionals, to maintain an efficient and effective working environment. The primary impact of the administrative team’s work is to keep the office running smoothly, supporting program management and staff through administrative functions, human resources, payroll, records management, and facilities management.

The Role
In this role, you will be responsible for supervising administrative staff and overseeing the day-to-day management of the office. This includes ensuring that office operations are efficient and effective. Your work will directly impact the citizens and clients served by MCFD, who rely on the ministry for essential services to children, youth, and families in Smithers. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Certificate or coursework in business, office administration, or in a related field, and one (1) year *related experience; OR
  • Secondary School graduation (Dogwood, GED) and two (2) years *related experience; OR
  • Evergreen and three (3) years *related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

*Related experience includes the following:

  • Experience providing administrative and financial support services for a group of staff.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with standard office procedures.


Preference may be given to candidates with the following:

  • Additional years of supervisory experience.
  • One (1) or more years’ experience providing administrative and financial support services for a group of staff.
  • Experience using Integrated Client Management (ICM).
  • Six (6) or more months’ experience coordinating financial activities (budget, contract administration, accounts payable, purchasing).

About this Position:
This is a temporary opportunity until September 5, 2025, with the possibility of extension and/or the position becoming permanent.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home up to one or more days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
