POSITION SUMMARY

Employees of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia (Assembly) provide professional non-partisan services to support the democratic institution of Parliament and its members through procedural advice, administrative support and information services. The Assembly is an autonomous employer, separate from the administrative framework of B.C. government ministries and agencies.

The Information Technology department is seeking an analytical, collaborative, and innovative individual for the regular full-time position of Senior Data Strategist.

Reporting to the Director, Information Technology, the Senior Data Strategist is responsible for driving enterprise data strategies and ensuring the effective use of data across the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia. This position serves as the product owner for critical information management enterprise solutions, overseeing data segmentation, compliance, and ownership at both technical and business levels. The Senior Data Strategist plays a pivotal role in enabling informed decision-making and operational efficiency for data segmentation and design through advanced analytics, dashboarding, and reporting capabilities. This role leads initiatives related to data governance, AI technology oversight, and insider risk management while fostering continuous improvement, clear communication, and alignment with organizational goals. The Senior Data Strategist is responsible for educating employees across all departments on emerging technologies and ensuring a positive client experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must be/have:

  • Post secondary education in Computer Science or related field, plus at least 3 years of experience with technology related initiatives, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with modern toolsets, behavior-driven recommendations, and dynamic systems.
  • Experience aligning data product strategies with organizational objectives.

Preference may be given to candidates with the following:

  • Experience in developing UI/UX design solutions.
  • Experience developing and delivering data-driven reports and leveraging analytical tools to support financial decision-making.
