The Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship is accountable for integrated water, land and natural resource management and cross-sector legislation, policy, and objective setting for land and marine environments.

The Deputy Minister’s Office (DMO) is the primary connection to the Minister and Minister’s Office, and central government. The Deputy Minister is responsible for overseeing the strategic and operational business of the Ministry, corporate planning and performance, internal communications and change management, strategic issues management and intergovernmental relations.

Reporting to the Manager, NRS Intergovernmental Relations, the Senior Intergovernmental Relations Analyst coordinates and leads the research, analysis, development and implementation of intergovernmental policies for the WLRS and across the Natural Resource Sector. The Senior IGR Analyst works across IGR teams in all NRS ministries and the IGR Secretariat in the Premier’s Office to build and maintain a network of contacts to support work that is often multi-disciplinary, inter-divisional, or inter-ministerial, timely and political in nature. The Senior IGR Analyst maintains an inventory of sector-wide IGR priorities and respond to IGR requests for information on WLRS programs and initiatives. This position provide advice to WLRS and NRS member ministries on IGR considerations, takes a leadership role on key WLRS files in collaboration with business areas as needed, and supports the Canadian Secretariat for the transboundary Skagit Environmental Endowment Commission.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in public administration, business administration, law, economics, social sciences, natural resource management or a field related to the program area and 2 years of related experience; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, law, economics, social sciences, natural resource management or a field related to the program area and 3 years of related experience; OR
  • Diploma in public administration, business administration, law, economics, social sciences, natural resource management or a field related to the program area and 4 years related experience; OR
  • Certificate or coursework in public administration, business administration, law, economics, social sciences, natural resource management or a field related to the program area and 5 years related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

*Related experience must include:

  • Experience in identifying, analyzing or presenting summaries of emerging intergovernmental and policy issues.
  • Experience working with the Natural Resource Sector. Preference may be given to applicants with subject matter or technical expertise.
  • Experience in planning and coordinating complex projects/assignments.
  • Experience in the development of legislation, regulation or policy.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with experience in concisely and persuasively writing a range of documents/content.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with four 4 or more years of related experience.
