The Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre (Maples) is a provincial, designated, Mental Health facility, operated by the Ministry of Children and Family Development. Services are delivered on-site in Coquitlam.

At the Maples, Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) Clinicians play a key role in a multi-disciplinary team that includes elders, child and youth care workers, psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, indigenous childcare counselors, recreation staff, and teachers. CYMH Clinicians provide various mental health services to young people with severe and persistent mental health issues. The Maples also offers forensic services to youth found Not Criminally Responsible or Unfit to Stand Trial under the Criminal Code of Canada. Additional services include community consultations, training, capacity building, and sharing current literature.

The Maples aims to enhance community capacity to care for young people with ongoing mental health needs. To support reintegration into the community, CYMH Clinicians offer services like intake, assessment, treatment, suicide risk assessment, safety plans, and crisis intervention for children, youth, and their families. These services are provided individually, in groups, and through family therapy. To ensure continuous care, CYMH Clinicians coordinate with families and caregivers to share plans and work towards positive outcomes for the children, youth, and their families.

Job Requirements:

  • Masters in Counselling, Social Work, Educational Counselling, Clinical Counselling, Clinical Psychology or Child and Youth Care or comparable graduate degree at the Master’s level in a similar subject may be considered.
    • NOTE: If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES).You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
  • Minimum of one year full-time equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver’s license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).


Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

  • Two years or more experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
  • Two years or more experience working with children and youth and their families in a hospital setting.
  • Applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.

There are two (2) regular full time positions available.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
