SPO MH 24 - Infant/Early Childhood Clinician, CYMH

Community-based Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) Services provide a range of specialized mental health services. These services range from mental health promotion and mental illness prevention to early intervention, treatment and support services for infants, children and youth with mental health problems, from birth to 18 years of age, and their families/caregivers. Our dedicated CYMH staff typically includes psychologists, clinical social workers, counsellors with master’s degrees, and nurses who have training and expertise in CYMH. Working in a collaborative manner with the client and/or family, staff members provide services and supports that include intake, screening and referral, assessment and planning, treatment, case management, and clinical consultation.

The Infant/Early Childhood Clinician provides clinical assessment, consultation and intervention for the social, emotional and behavioral development of infants and young children within the context of their family relationships. It includes supporting secure attachment relationships; the ability to experience, manage and express the full range of emotions; and the capacity to grow, develop, learn and explore within the context of their social environments.

Job Requirements:

• Masters in Counselling, Social Work, Educational Counselling, Clinical Counselling, Clinical Psychology or Child and Youth Care or comparable graduate degree at the Master’s level in a similar subject may be considered.
  • NOTE: If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
• Minimum of one year full-time equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
• Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver’s licence with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).
  

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

• Two years or more experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
• One year or more experience working with parents/caregivers and children 6 years of age and under.
• Experience with a variety of developmental screens and assessments related to mental health in young children.
• Experience using a trauma informed approach.
• Training in infant/child development as well as clinical experience working with infants and young children.
• Applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.

About this Position:
This position is based in Oliver, and covers the South Okanagan Service Delivery Area including Osoyoos and Keremeos.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
